More Progress

The end of the summer found me zoning out and chipping away at my latest book, Screw Comics 4. Page-wise I'm in the mid 60s, but I still haven't figured out how to end the damn story. While the characters are culminating for the final showdown with minutes left on the clock, it can still go in any direction; anything can happen, which is so damning. It's almost like the opposite of writer's block, and abundance of different choices of outcomes have me paralyzed. But not to worry, these things always work themselves out for me. A lot of times something will happen in real life that will give me that lightning strike of what to do in my stories. However, never one to sit around and wait for inspiration to strike I'll keep it moving wrapping up and finishing up other parts of the book. So, until then I'll still be chipping away.

Participated in Skessions this month. One of my friends mentioned something about how people refer to Frankenstein's monster as Frankenstein so I decided to clear up any confusion in my drawing.

X Comicpalooza X

Ah, here we are...the tenth annual Comicpalooza! And of course, my yearly rundown of how it went.

Honestly, this is my best year yet. They must have taken into consideration my concern for a decent space from last year's show cuz they stuck me on the end of an aisle on a very prominent side of the event. Which I turned into a corner space by bringing in an extra smaller table and flinging the big one to the side. So, I was able to layout much more colorful, eye-catching original art that did it's job and caught eyes. Lots of repeat customers as well. People who have bought art years past have returned to rummage through the new ranks to see what's in store. And there was plenty. 

BTW, add me, watch my stories, comment on my posts, talk shit etc.

Every year I add a fresh stack of new original art, and it's very interesting (if I do say so) thanks to the Inktober prompts and various other online sketch prompt accounts. I even lugged the Voldemort Vet painting to hang behind me and that drew it's own share of gawkers. Made lots of new fans too. All ya'll new peeps who copped original pieces, thank you very much. And you folks who copped some adult art as well (yes, folks, I take my adult art with me to shows to sell, and it sells!). 

Didn't do too many original sketches, but what I did is as follows:

Father and son doing a convention for the first time. Not sure how but people always assume correctly that I do caricatures.

A tricky expression to capture but the client loved it.

And then came the live art auction, which I thoroughly destroyed! Check out my "Groot Anything" piece.

and then finished. Before I left the price was in the hundreds. I never find out what my pieces go for, but someone paid a pretty penny for this one.

And there you have it, my best Comicpalooza yet. If you missed it this year, well, just gotta wait around til next. It's the only show I'll lug all my art to, so far, and I have so much original stuff it's too much to catalog and put it online. So, getting my art in person is the only way to go.

#Inktober Run Down

Here we are folks, the glorious 2017 #Inktober Rundown. This year I stuck to my drawing board like clockwork and it paid off. I only missed the first two, and since I don't like to look back I just left them unfulfilled. So, we pick up at #3 and ride the wave to the end! Most of the pieces are on loose 8.5" x 11" illustration paper, unless where noted. These are actual scans of the work, as opposed to what was posted on Instagram, just photos. They will soon be bagged and priced and will join my stack of original art I sell at my appearances. Day 5: Long. As in a long road. 1 of 3 of the travelling ronin samurai.

Day 6: Sword. Everyone's favorite emo anime soldier and his trusty Buster that he swears is not compensating for anything. 

Day 7 Shy. One of my faves, a bullied Shy Guy at Koopa High.

Day 8: Crooked. As in The Crooked Ninja Turtle Gang.

Day 9: Screech. As a vulture. Cuz vulture's also Screech.

Day 10: Gigantic.

Day 11: Run.

Day 12: Shatter. As in these young adveturers shattered the evil crystal golem.

Day 13: Teeming. As in I hope you're Friday the 13th is teeming with as much fun and excitement as Jason's is.

Day 14: Fierce. When you want the Fierce Deity Link but accidentally put on the Deku mask.

Day 15: Mysterious. Rorschach on the case.

Day 16: Fat

Day 17: Graceful

Day 18: Fithy. As in "Keep the change, you filthy animal."

Day 19: Cloud. Texas icon/ HEB President Scott McClelland as a cloud.

Doesn't he look like a cloud, like the smiley background cloud from Super Mario?

Day 20: Deep. Rapper Freddie Gibbs, who has a track called Deep.

Day 21: Furious. As in Furious George punches Nazis. Shoutout to Evan Dorkin who drew a strip that inspired this one.

I'm a HUGE fan of Dorkin's work. He's a big influence on my comics.

Day 22: Trail. As in, a new adversary blocks the trail. 2 of 3 of the ronin samurai.

Day 23: Juicy. From the PJs.

Day 24. Blind. Hold up, I scanned it but forgot to include it. I will soon.

Day 25: Ship. General Summer Solstice on her flag ship. Read her story in Screw Comics! #2.

Day 26: Squeak. As in, Techno-Squeak, the Exterminator Terminator. For some reason this one was really popular.

Day 26: Squeak. BONUS piece. I did this one first but I decided I didn't wanna cause a raucous on da 'Gram. Even tho I shoulda.

Day 27: Climb. 

Day 28: Fall. As in, the fall of Don Draper.

Day 29: United. As in, No. 08's gang is united for revenge. Stranger Things season 2!

Day 30: Found. As in, you'll never guess where I found Carmen Sandiego. Well, guess!

Day 31: Mask. As in, the adversary that blocks the trail has a peculiar mask. 3 of 3 of the ronin samurai set.

And there you have it, the Inktober 2017 lot. Phew! What a month. Coming up next, more work. The fun don't stop.

Morticia's Murder

..of Inktober drawings! You know, the grouping, like a murder of crows! A Murder of Inktober drawings! The 2016 run-down from this month. As for Morticia, you'll see her at the end.

This year's prompt list. It's not mandatory to follow, by any means, but it makes for a great jumping off point to come up with some interesting ideas. The highlighted are ones I completed this year. The middle of the month I was a bit preoccupied (see last post) but I think I turned October out nonetheless.
