Join the Club

Hey, 2016 here we are.

And so is this. The latest compilation of comics from Red Stylo entitled The 27 Club, which is about, you guessed it, those infamous poor souls in the Rock-n-Roll pantheon who didn't make it past 27. It's actually quite a few too, a strange coincidental phenomenon. And this compilation features stories inspired by their brief lives and extraordinary careers.
I contributed art to TWO of these stories. The first is a story about a futuristic beauty pageant based on the late bass player of the band Hole, Kristen Pfaff. If you look into her life story you'll find it ends very tragically. For the final art I also did the colors and lettering.

The second story is a "Jim Morrison: Vampire Hunter" type joint. It weaves in something more mythological and explains why his life was cut short.

Selkies & Cat Girls

Just in time for Halloween, a new comic I illustrated for Red Stylo Media! For their upcoming collection of stories based on the classic rock band Queen entitled Killer Queen, this story features a mermaid sideshow, mean bullies, and an unlikely love story. If yer a Queen fan I'm sure you'll recognize one of them for sure.

And also in the spirit of Halloween this year, here's a sketch of Hermione Granger of Harry Potter lore bumbling a potion. I've always loved this scene from the movie.

Happy Halloween! Here's a link to the 8-page comic I drew for Red Stylo for their 'Unfashioned Creatures' anthology. Basically it's an ode to the Frankenstein story. Here's the blurb from the site to give you a quick idea:

Quite SHREWd

Okay, truly wrapping up this productive July is this 10 page comic I did for a terrific lil' indie label called Red Stylo. It's part of the next upcoming Shakespeare Shaken compilation, a collection of comics inspired by Shakespeare stories. The story I got to draw was a tale similar to "The Taming of the Shrew". It takes place in an alternative universe where a company is having trouble "taming" a certain female assassin. I was on board to color it and letter it as well, but I ran out of time due to other comic obligations, although I DID color the very first panel, the rainy futuristic cityscape. Dig it!

 

Don't wanna spoil the story and give EVERYTHING away. These were just select pages.
